Your Body is Your
Vehicle
Article by Paul Hopkins, Nutrition & Fitness

Have you ever considered your body as a vehicle?
Maybe you should. Why? Read on…
In this case the vehicle is a car. You finally
have the car you always wanted. Since you really like
your new vehicle, you take great care of it. You wash it
everyday, vacuum the car, wipe the interior, and even put
a nice coat of wax on it. After all vehicles require
maintenance right?
Actually, what you have really done is take care
of the vehicles shell. You forgot all of the other parts
of the vehicle. A vehicle is designed to help you go from
point A to point B. And the only way it will work is if
you take care of the drive train, motor, axles, and other
moving parts. The engine needs oil; the transmission
needs transmission oil, and etc.
Since you took care of only the outward
appearance of the vehicle, you forgot the real
maintenance of the vehicle (a.k.a. the drive train,
motor, axles, and other moving parts). Now the car has
trouble starting, overheats in traffic, and cannot brake
fast. Basically, all of the efficiency of the vehicle is
lost.
How does all of that compare to your body? Well,
you love your body as the car’s exterior. You shower,
brush your teeth, comb your hair, and other hygienic
routines. Your outward appearance is very well up kept.
Sounding familiar?
Again, you forgot to take care of the other
parts of your body. The body has muscles, bones, a
nervous system, and all your other moving parts.
(Consider them moving parts since they never cease to
operate) All of these items require their own forms of
oil and maintenance. This is equivalent to nutrients and
water. For example, forgetting to drink water is like
forgetting to put oil into the engine of your car. Pretty
soon, your body slows down and cannot fire on all
cylinders.
In order for your body to run like a sports car,
you need to intake a proper diet. Or in other words, you
need to eat healthy. This allows you to feed your body
proper nutrients and fluids.
Eventually, you will see your body running like
a brand new vehicle…
